Esther Wilson, 93, a lifelong resident of Elgin, Texas passed away early Thursday morning, November 19, 2015 in the Elgin Nursing and Rehab. Esther was born May 18, 1922 in Bastrop County, Texas to George Klaus and Julia Schulte. She was baptized at an early age and member of the First Baptist Church of Elgin before moving her membership to the Cedar Valley Baptist Church. In 1945, she married Roscoe Wilson after he returned home from WWII, and together made their home Elgin, Texas. She was a perfect host, always ready to serve her wonderful cooking, especially a fresh out-of-the-oven pie or cake. She was a home maker and took great pride in everything she did.

Esther was preceded in death by her husband Roscoe Wilson of 38 years before his passing; her two brothers, Arnold and Wilbert Klaus; three sisters, Ida Kylberg, Margaret Klaus, Ophelia Dusek; and son-in-law, Oscar Wusterhausen.

She is survived by her two daughters, Linda Wusterhausen and Joyce and Husband Roger Gunter; seven grandchildren, Rhonda and Gene Tedford, Jerry, William, and Stephen Wusterhausen, Loretta Harvey, and Elizabeth Brotheron; 18 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and her sister, Nellie Delemater.

A special thanks to Elgin Nursing Home and A-Med Hospice for their care. Pecuniary Memorials may be made in Esther’s Honor to the Alzheimer’s Association 225 N. Michigan Avenue, 17th Floor, Chicago, IL 60601.

The family will receive guests at the Elgin Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be conducted at the Elgin Funeral Home with Brother Jeff Wilson officiating.

Honoring Esther as Pall Bearers are Gene Tedford, Billy, Jerry, and Stephen Wusterhausen, lifelong friends Paul Peterson, Jack Nokes, Michael Marx, and Jimmy Smith.

Interment will follow at the Youngs Prairie Cemetery.
