Funeral services for Altea Dewald were held Thursday, Aug. 24, 2006, at 2 p.m. at the First Reformed Church, Mitchell.
Burial was made in the Graceland Cemetery, Mitchell, with Bittner Funeral Chapel, Mitchell, in charge of arrangements.

Altea Amanda Dewald was born March 19, 1917, in Hutchinson County to John and Antonia (Winter) Tiede. She grew up and attended rural schools in Hutchinson County.

She married Christian Dewald September 5, 1937, at the Zion Congregational Church in Parkston. They farmed in the Parkston area until 1965 when they moved to Mitchell. She was employed at the Siesta Motel in Mitchell for over 20 years. She was a member of the First Reformed Church in Mitchell.

She died Saturday, Aug. 19, at Firesteel Healthcare Center in Mitchell. She attained the age of 89 years.

She is survived by two children, Darrel Dewald and wife, Becky, Apple Valley, Minn., Sylvia Bialas and husband, Willard, Parkston; one sister, Wynetta Weisser, Parkston; three brothers, Clarence Tiede and wife, Marcelline, Parkston, Wilbert Tiede and wife, Donna, Littleton, Colo., LeRoy Tiede and wife, Donna, Sun City, Ariz.; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Christian on September 18, 2005; an infant daughter; and her parents.
