There are five cases of diphtheria in the family of Avary Plant, at No. 169 Pearl street, in the Fourth Ward. The cases are not of the malignant type and it is likely that all will recover. The children afflicted with the disease are aged respectively 19, 17. 16, 10 and 8 years, the oldest four being girls. The nine-year-old son of Robert Carson, of the fifth ward, who has the diphtheria, cannot recover.
