David Baumgartner, 78, Greeley, died Saturday Aug. 29 at North Colorado Medical Center.

He was born Dec. 8, 1913 in Goodrich, Colorado to Karl and Elizabeth Michel-Hinder-Baumgartner.

Mr. Baumgartner moved with his family to Briggsdale, Colorado and then to Prospect Valley, Colorado, where he attended school.

On Jan. 1, 1935, he married Severine Kathryn Falkenstein in Fort Morgan, Colorado. He later married Creta June Aker on May 21, 1955 in Cheyenne, Wyoming.

He retired in 1979 and moved to Greeley in 1982 with Creta. He was awarded the Pinto Bean Grower Award.

Survivors are his wife, Creta, of Greeley; a son, David Jr of Denver; a daughter, Rosalie Sharon Thompson, also of Denver; four stepsons, Robin Greenhagen of St. Francis, Kan., Larry Greenhagen of Platteville, Duane Greenhagen of Denver, and ronnie Liner of Henderson, Nev. He is also survived by two sisters Martha Huwa of Denver and Esther Becker of Prospect Valley; seven brothers, Jacob of Greeley, Henry of Manteca, Calif., Herman of Sun City, Ariz, and John, Alex, Leonard and Rueben, all of Prospect Valley; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

Two sisters, Amelia and Lydia, and two brothers, Carl and Charley, are deceased.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Stoddard Funeral Home. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
