Ruben Baumgartner, 75, of Keenesburg died Tuesday, April 9, at North Colorado Medical Center.
He was born April 24, 1920, in Brush to Eva and Karl Baumgartner.
Mr. Baumgartner has farmed in the Keenesburg (Prospect Valley) area for over 60 years. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII from 1942-44. He was a POW for 100 days. He received the Purple Heart Award.
He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 180 in Keenesburg, where he was the past commander. He was a member of the Zoar Congregational Church and a local board member of the Colorado Sugar Beet Association.
Survivors are two daughters, Sandra Clark of Keenesburg and Lori Nash of Fort Lupton; four sons, Gerald, Rodney, Richard, Kenneth, all of Prospect Valley; two sisters, Esther Becker of Keenesburg and Martha Huwa of Aurora; four brothers, Herman of Sun City, Ariz., Jack of Greeley, John of Keenesburg and Henry of California; 15 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
His wife, Marian (Ruth), died in 1995 and six brothers and four sisters are deceased.
Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Greeley Christian Church. Interment will be at Linn Grove Cemetery.
Memorial gifts may be made to the American Legion Post 180 Scholarship Fund in care of Stoddard Funeral Home.
