Gary A. Griess, PhD., age 68, went to be with the Lord Friday, April 25, 2008 after a courageous battle with cancer. Gary is survived by his beloved wife Susan A. Griess, daughter Dr. Kristine Griess, son David Greiss, step-daughter Barbara (Bernie) Ramirez, step-son Jack (Pam) Bales, step-grandchildren Matt and Lauren Ramirez and Kelsey and Kendall Bales; brother Herb (Barb) Griess; nieces Shelly and Stacy, and her family. Gary was a Godly man, loving husband, devoted father and caring grandfather. He had a contagious smile that we will always remember. A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, May 1, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church of Helotes. Special thanks to the following people for their compassionate care over the years: Dr. Charles Roeth & staff; Dr. Lon Smith & staff; Dr. Kyriakos Papadopoulos & staff. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to South Texas Oncology/Hematology, the START program (S. Tx Accelerated Research Therapeutics), or Zion Lutheran Church of Helotes.
