Herbert Griess, son of Carl, C. M. and Elizabeth was born March 24, 1902, at Stockham, Nebraska. He passed away August 11, 1976, at the age of 74 in Omaha. Herbert was baptized in infancy and confirmed in the Emmauel Reformed Church and was a graduate of Sutton High School. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, Claudia (Grosshans), Alice, Minnie (Woodward), Gertrude, Melita (Becker) and Vera (Ochsner). Survivors include his wife, Alice of Omaha, son Herbert C. Jr., Lincoln, Gary, Rochester, New York; sisters, Clare Hunzeker, Sutton; Hertha Koengler, Ventura, Calif.; brother, Hilmer, Waukeegan, Illinois and four grandchildren. Services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, August 16, at the Brailey, Dorrance, Korisko Mortuary. Burial was at Hillcreast Cemetery, Omaha. Those attending from Sutton were Mr. and Mrs. Bob Hunzeker, Mr. and Mrs. Fredrick Becker and Wendy of Saronville.
