A memorial visitation will be at the Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault on Sunday, January 3, 2016 from 1 to 3 p.m. with a time of sharing at 3 p.m.
Interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis.
Marilyn Jane Dierks was born in Flandreau, SD on March 3, 1934. She was the third of four children born to Opal and Gerhardt Dierks. As a young girl, Marilyn and her family moved to Chokio, MN, where she grew up on her parents’ farm. She graduated from Chokio High School in 1952, and in 1954 she graduated from Moorhead Teachers College where she earned her license in elementary education. She went on to teach 4th and 5th grade students in Appleton, Litchfield and Owatonna.
On December 4, 1960, Marilyn was united in marriage to Rex Welborn. Together they made their home in Faribault where they raised their family.
Marilyn is survived by her four children, Stacy Welborn (and fiancé, Jim Peterson) of Maple Grove, Jon (and Angie) Welborn, Ellen (and Kris) Paulson and Jay (and Diana) Welborn, all of Faribault; six grandchildren whom she adored; two brothers, Bob Dierks of Chokio and Daryl (and Phyllis) Dierks of St. Peter; and other relatives and many friends.
Marilyn was preceded in death by parents; her husband, Rex; and her older sister, Elizabeth Boe.
