Robert William Dierks, son of Gerhardt and Opal (Hendrickson) Dierks was born on September 12, 1932 in Flandreau, South Dakota. He was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith. During high school, Bob’s father was killed in an accident; Bob not only continued his schooling and graduated but began operating the family farm to help provide for his mother and younger siblings. He was united in marriage on August 29, 1954, to his high school sweetheart Yvonne Asmus. The couple made their home on the Dierks Family Farm where they raised their six children. In 1987, the couple moved into Chokio. Yvonne passed away on March 14, 2011. Bob continued to live in Chokio and actively farmed until the time of his death.
He was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and served many years on the church council. Bob served on the Chokio Equity Exchange Board, and Everglade Township Board. He enjoyed bowling and gardening.
