Henry E. Gorte, 60, of 5628 Brunner Rd., Manitowoc, died unexpectedly Sunday afternoon at the family residence. Funeral services will be Wednesday at St. John Evangelical Lutheran church in Newtonburg. Rev. Keith Haberkorn will officiate and burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Sheboygan.

Mr. Gorte was born Aug. 22, 1917 in Sheboygan, son of the late Peter and Christine (Wilde) Gorte. April 30, 1947 he married Adeline Busse in first German Lutheran church, Manitowoc. He owned and operated a farm with his son, Fred, in the town of Newton. He was secretary and treasurer of Lakefield Telephone Co., served two terms as an officer of St. John Evangelical church, a member of the School Building community Council and a member of the National and Manitowoc County Holstein Association.

Survivors include his wife, two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Betty of Rt. 1, Manitowoc; Fred and Mary of 5424 Brunner Rd.; and Raymond of St. Paul, Minn.; a daughter and son-in-law, Christine and Victor Voigt of Rt. 2, Reedsville; and five grandchildren. A sister, Ilma preceded him in death.
