Adelheid (Pautsch) Bielfeldt (1895 - 1987)

Adelheid Bielfeldt was born on October 8, 1895, on a farm in Hanover Township, the daughter of Emil and Anna Lill Pautsch. She died on Monday, March 30, 1987, at the Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison, Iowa, at the age of 91 years, 5 months, and 22 days.

Adelheid spent her early years on the family farm in Hanover Township. She was baptized on October 27, 1895, by Pastor Carl Runge at St. Paul's Lutheran Church and later was confirmed on April 4, 1909, at St. Paul's by Pastor Carl Runge. She attended St. Paul's Lutheran School in Hanover and graduated from the eighth grade.

On August 18, 1918, Adelheid was united in marriage to John Frederick Bielfeldt at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hanover Township. Together they made their home on a farm in Hanover. In 1952, John and Adelheid moved to Denison and made their home on an acreage west of Denison.

In June of 1962, John passed away. In August of 1973, Adelheid entered Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison. Adelheid was a long time member of Zion Lutheran Church in Denison and a member of the Dorcas Society.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Adelheid was preceded in death by one son, Bernhardt, who died in infancy; four brothers and one sister.

Survivors include her children, Emil Bielfeldt and his wife, Vernette of Charter Oak, John Bielfeldt and his wife, Dorothy of Arion, Ruth and her husband, Hans Jess of Schleswig, Ruby and her husband, Leroy Sass of Hampton, Fern and her husband, Clarence Held of Hinton, and Glen Bielfeldt and his wife, Phyllis of Perry; 19 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are one brother, Ferdinand Pautsch of Denison and two sisters, Elna Engelking of Battle Creek and Anna, Mrs. Melyin Bohlander of Sioux City.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, April 2, 1987, at 11:00 a.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church in Denison. Burial was in the Morgan Township Cemetery in Schleswig. The Rev. Donald Fraker and Rev. Kurt Kaiser officiated at the services. Mrs. Fred Rabe served as organist. Serving as pallbearers were Jon Bielfeldt, James Bielfeldt, Bruce Held, Dennis L. Reimer, Richard Sass and Robert Henningsen.
