Christina “Nonni” “Tina” Manzi (Bruno) passed away at the age of 78 with her husband of 58 years, children, and grandchildren by her side on the morning of Sunday, February 28, 2016 in Springfield, Massachusetts. She is survived by her husband Angelo Manzi; her five children and their spouses, John Manzi and Betty Kay, Angela Penndorf and Mark, Anthony Manzi and Shannon Morin, RosaAnna Ronca and Carl, Frank Manzi and Susan; her grandchildren Michael, Christine, Christie, Stephanie, Anthony, Katie, Tiffany, Jennifer, Carlo, Christina, Kayla, Victor, Angelo, Lucas, Laura, Jake, and Raymond; and her great grandchildren Madeline, Vincenzo, Gabriella, Valentina, Nixon, Richard, and William Angelo . She also leaves two sisters in law, Severina Bruno, Anna Bruno; one brother in law, Mattia Cardaropoli along with countless other blood relatives and close friends. She is predeceased by her siblings, Carmine Bruno, Luigina Cardaropoli, Elena Santaniello, Maria Ruggiero, Francesco Bruno, and Adolfo Bruno. Christina was born on October 28, 1937 in Bracigliano, Italy to Luisa “Pennino” and Nunziante Bruno. She was one of seven children. She immigrated to the United States in 1955 at the age of 18, where she met her husband Angelo. She thrived in America through hard work and her magnetic personality. After briefly working as a seamstress, Christina applied her love of cooking, her love of people, and her business sense to start a small pizzeria in East Longmeadow called Bruno’s Pizza. As her family of seven grew in size, Christina welcomed every in - law and grandchild with the same limitless compassion that she showed her own children. She had the unique ability to see the good in everyone, no matter what the circumstance. If you went to her for help, she would clear hours out of her day to talk to you, remind you of how important love and family are, and to feed you one of her famous meatballs (regardless of whether or not you were hungry). Christina had seventeen grandchildren, but was ‘Nonni’ to so many more. She embodied the role of family matriarch because to her, family was everything. As she always said, “My favorite thing is when everyone is together.” Funeral services will be held on Saturday (March 5th) 7:45AM from the Forastiere Smith Family Funeral Home, 220 North Main St., East Longmedow; followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at 9:00AM in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 123 William St., Springfield. Entombment will follow in St. Michael the Archangel Mausoleum, 1601 State St., Springfield. The family will receive friends on Friday (March 4th) from 4:00PM – 9:00PM. wwwlforastiere.com
