Patricia Amelang
Patricia Amelang was born, Patricia Unverferth, in Waltham Mass, on 19 June, 1947, and passed from this life on 27 October, 2012.
The middle daughter of five children by Colonel and Mrs. John Unverferth. As a child of an Army officer she grew up in New England, Germany and Panama before coming to Galveston in the early 1960's. Pat attended Ursuline Catholic High School here on the island, upon graduation she attended the University of St. Thomas in Houston where she majored in English and received her degree in 1969. Upon graduation she earned a teaching certificate and taught in the GISD school system until 1976 when she became a computer programmer. She retired in 2010 from UTMB. Pat was a devout Roman Catholic and a member of Holy Family Parish. She was passionate about supporting our troops, and received several awards for her support.
Pat is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Heather Amelang; her granddaughters Gabrielle, Greta and Erynne; her brother and his wife, Gus and Sondra Unverferth; and her sisters and their husbands, Jo Ann and Gary Crosby, Katy and Steve Huffman and Pauline and Eugene Aaron
She will be laid to rest at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery in Dickinson, Texas.
