ACKER, Hilton Welsford "Wellie" - 84, passed away on June 6, 2005, in Roseway Hospital, Sandy Point. Born in Birchtown, he was a son of the late Clarence and Mildred Jane Acker. He was a veteran of the Second World War. He retired from the CNR after 28 years of service. He loved his garden. He had open heart surgery in 1974. He is survived by his wife, the former Arlene Mae Rhodenizer; son, David (Diane), Churchover; daughter, Nancy (Roland) Williams, Canada Hill; sister, Aileen (Frank) Acker, Shelburne. He was predeceased by son, Roger; daughters, Linda and Janie; brothers, Maxwell and Harry; sisters, Mary Goulden and Doris Ash. Visitation will be today from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in H.M. Huskilson's Funeral Home, Shelburne. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 2 p.m. in H.M. Huskilson's Funeral Chapel in Shelburne, Rev. Matthew Sponagle officiating. Interment in Mizpah Cemetery, Birchtown. No flowers by request. Donations may be made to a charity of choice.
