Edward C. Uphus, age 81 of Belgrade died Monday morning, February 13, 2006 at the Belgrade Nursing Home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Belgrade. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Edward Conrad Uphus was born on June 6, 1924 on the family farm near Greenwald, the son of John and Mary (Brus) Uphus. He grew up on the family farm and attended grade school at St. Andrew’s Catholic School. On September 9, 1947 he was married to Verena Leukam at St. John’s Catholic Church in Meire Grove. The lived on the family farm for 5 years and then moved for a short time to Lake Henry and Mpls. They returned to the area in 1974 where he farmed near Belgrade and worked as a salesmen for McNess Feed Company. He retired in 1991 and they moved into Belgrade. Ed was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church where belonged to the Knights of Columbus. He also was a member of the Moose Lodge of Waite Park.

Ed was preceded in death by infant child; parents; brother Barney Uphus; and three sisters, Marie Winning, Betty Schulzetenberg and Janet Baltes.
