Clara Starr Good, 85, passed away on Friday April 15, 2016 at Catawba Regional Hospice after a long period of declining health.
Clara was born on February 15, 1931 in Catawba County to the late Curtis Elmore Starr and Mary Roper Starr.
She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband James Clyde Good; sister Verna Sigmon, and brothers Glenn, Carl, Curtis Jr. and Ralph Starr; grandson Curtis Ehlers.
Clara worked for Whistnant hosiery mill and Red Hill Hosiery with her late husband. Later was a dedicated cafeteria worker for Sweetwater Elementary School. She was a Member of Unity Lutheran Church women's group and loved working in her garden, reading and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her daughters Karen Whitener husband Tony of Bethlehem, Sheila Gwen Ehlers of Lexington, SC; grandchildren John Ehlers, Kristin Ehlers, Shane Whitener, Deena Whitener Miller and husband Patrick, Summer Whitener, Cody Whitener wife Brooksie, and Zachary Whitener; great grandchildren Sadie Miller, Kennedy Miller, Oscar Miller, Quincy Whitener, Gabriella Whitener, and Lucian Whitener; sister Elizabeth Ward husband Henry of Sherrills Ford; sister-in-law Merle Starr of Wyoming.
The family will receive friends from 1:45 PM until 2:45 PM on Monday April 18, 2016 at Unity Lutheran Church. The Funeral service will be Monday April 18, 2016 at 3:00 PM at Unity Lutheran Church. The graveside service will immediately follow at Catawba Memorial Park.
