Obituary ofr Virginia M. McDavid
(January 4, 1922 ~ April 19, 2016)

Virginia “Ginny” Morris McDavid quietly passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2016 in Biloxi, MS.

Born in Haworth, OK on Jan. 4, 1922, Ginny moved with her parents and two sisters to Arizona in 1924. She spent her summers on a ranch near Benson where she rode horses, roped calves, and hung out with the cowboys. After one year at the U. of AZ in Tucson, Ginny met and married US Army-Air Corps pilot Andrew E. “Mac” McDavid, a native of McComb, MS. His career took them to nearly every region of the U. S. and all over the world, including tours of duty in Germany, Japan, and Australia. After Mac’s retirement (Col. USAF)), they returned to Ginny’s beloved Arizona where Mac died in 1995 after fifty-four years of marriage. She subsequently moved to Ocean Springs, MS to be closer to family.

She was an accomplished artist and her paintings are treasured by her children and grandchildren. We will miss her wonderful spirit and the joy she always brought to others. All who knew her will remember her open smile and eagerness to embrace new friends and experiences.

Ginny is survived by her sons Andrew “Drew” McDavid (Carmen) and Stephen McDavid (Marty) and daughter Mary Lynn McDavid and her niece Susan Weber (Steen) and nephew James “Jimmy” Buchanan. Her grandchildren include Andrew “Tripp” McDavid (deceased), Samuel McDavid (Leita), Christina Wray Bottomley (Barrett), Jennifer McDavid, Katherine Wray Wonnell (Chase), Stefanie Kippes (Tony), and Lauren McDavid. She has four great-grandchildren: Tristen and Xander McDavid, Kennedy Wonnell, James Kippes, and soon to be Wyatt Bottomley.

Riemann Family Funeral Home, 274 Beauvoir Road, Biloxi is serving the family. A burial will take place at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery.
