Shirley Kerns, 76, passed away at North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley on Tuesday, April 19, 2016. She was born Nov. 29, 1939, in Galeton to Jacob and Hannah Winter.
Shirley grew up in the Galeton and Greeley area. She attended Eaton High School. On March 31, 1957, in Raton, N.M., Shirley married Robert Kerns.
Shirley was a homemaker who loved ironing, cooking, photography and gardening, but her grandchildren were her pride and joy.
Shirley is survived by her husband, Robert of Greeley; daughters, Debra (Tony) Backman of Dallas, Texas, and Sandy Torres of Greeley; grandchildren, Justin Jayne, Anthony Backman, Alexis Torres, and Diego Torres; siblings, Violet Grebb of Quincy, Wash., Harold (Darlene) Winter of Greeley, Margie Becker of Denver, Richard Winter of Eaton, Joann (Steve) Cecil of Fort Morgan and Linda Winter of Severance.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m., Friday, April 22, 2016, at Sunset Memorial Gardens, 3400 28th St., Greeley, CO 80634.
