MRS. MARIE ANKLAM BURIED THURSDAY
Elderly Matron Was Native Of Germany

Mrs. Marie Mrohs Anklam, one of Crisfield's beloved elderly ladies, died at the home of her son, Robert Mrohs, on Mariners Road, early Tuesday morning, after only a short illness. She was in her 80th year.

Mrs. Anklam was a native of Germany, born in the little town of Treppendorf about 60 miles from Berlin on Aug. 1st, 1868. In 1905, she came to Philadelphia, and after the death of her first husband Mr. Robert Mrohs, she was married to Mr. Rudolph Anklam, and they came to Crisfield in 1911 where Mr. Anklam pioneered the first Gas Company in Crisfield.

Mrs. Anklam was a deeply religious person and one of gracious character. She was for many years a member of Mt. Pleasant Church, where she was active while her health permitted.

During the time she lived in Crisfield, she made many friends, for she was understanding and helpful, and won the esteem and regard of all those who came to know her. She was a fine neighbor, glad to be of service to others and carried sunshine and comfort into many homes.

Her body reposed at Bradshaw Funeral Chapel until ten o'clock Thursday morning, when it was removed to the late home on Mariners Road where services were conducted at 2:00 o'clock by Rev. Elmer L. Bennett, pastor of her church, assisted by Rev. Harvey O. Hufnal. Interment was in Sunnyridge Memorial Park.

Bearers were Edward Holland, Herman Reuben, Earl Henderson, Tom Ward, Lionel Gibson and Ray Daugherty.

She is survived by the following sons: Robert Mrohs, Crisfield; Max Mrohs, Tacoma, Washington; and Paul Mrohs, Philadelphia. Also surviving are three step-daughters, Mrs. Lionel (Anna) Gibson, Crisfield; Mrs. Paul Lawson of Florida; and Mrs. Walter Busch of California. Four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren survive.
