Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, May 20, 2016 at Richmond Cemetery in Richmond, Kansas.
Mrs. Mason will lie in state from 9:00 A.M. Thursday, May 19, 2016 until service hour at Dengel & Son Mortuary.
Family will meet with friends from 6:30 P.M. to 7:30 P.M., Thursday, May 19, 2016 at the mortuary.
She was born on Thursday, November 15, 1923 in Marshall County, Kansas, the daughter of William "Stub" and Erva (Carpenter)Taylor.
She lived in Minlow, Kansas until the age of twelve when her family moved to a farm in Richmond, Kansas. They moved to Missouri for a time, returning to the Lane, Kansas area; lived several places before moving to Lawrence, Kansas for seven years before moving to Ottawa in April, 1994.
Alice graduated from Rich Hull High School in Rich Hill, Missouri with the class of 1940.
She was a member of Independent Baptist Church in Bonner Springs, Kansas.
On February 7, 1941 Alice was united in marriage with Frank Stewart at Butler, Missouri. He preceded her in death in 1963. She later married Bill Mason and they were later divorced.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents, William and Erva Taylor; sons, Carl Mason and Gary Mason; brothers, Dale Taylor, Garland Taylor, Roy Taylor, Darroll Taylor and Carl Taylor; and sisters, Faye Taylor, Betty Hamblin and Rita Taylor.
She is survived by her daughter, Beverly King of St. Paul, Kansas; brothers, Bud Taylor of Ottawa, Kansas, Ray Taylor of Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri and Ralph Taylor of Ottawa, Kansas; sisters, Blanch Lowe of Oskaloosa, Kansas, Vera Shurtz of Kansas City, Kansas, and Wanda Lynch of Vanceburg, Kentucky; four grandchildren and six grandchildren.
Alice worked seventeen years at Sunflower Ordinance in DeSoto, Kansas, retiring in December 1989. She later worked cleaning houses.
