Rita E. Taylor, age 70, of Topeka, Kansas, died Friday, August 28, 2009, at Stormont-Vail Regional Medical Center in Topeka. She was born on Saturday, July 1, 1939, in Rich Hill, Missouri. She was the daughter of William E. "Stub" and Erva E. (Carpenter) Taylor.

She lived in Centralia, Kansas from 1976 to 1984, moving to Ottawa in 1984 and Topeka in 2001. Rita graduated from Lane High School with the class of 1958. She worked as a nurses aid before becoming a full time homemaker, caregiver, and best friend to her granddaughters.

On July 28, 1959, Rita was united in marriage with Jim Demmitt in Miami, OK. They were later divorced. On September 27, 1976, Rita was united in marriage with Jackie L. Jack Taylor in Holton, KS. He preceded her in death on July 17, 1998.

Funeral services will be held from the Dengel & Son Mortuary in Ottawa at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 2, 2009. Friends may pay their respects to Rita at the Dengel & Son Mortuary after 9:00 a.m. Tuesday to the service hour, where the family will meet with friends from 7:00 to 8:00 Tuesday evening.

Burial at Richmond Cemetery in Richmond, Kansas.
