DECATUR — Funeral for Gerald Neal Pitt, 71, of Decatur will be Thursday, May 26, 2016, at 11 a.m. at Parkway Funeral Home with Rev. Marvin Gillespie officiating. Burial will be in East Lawrence Memorial Gardens with military honors. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Pitt, who died Monday, May 23, 2016, Decatur Morgan Hospital, was born Nov. 4, 1944, to Edgar Pitt and Nona Lancaster Pitt. He was a Specialist 4 in the U.S. Army. He enjoyed working in his yard and Alabama football. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty Pitt; three brothers, Gene Pitt, Tom Pitt and Charles Pitt.

Survivors include one son, Brandon Pitt; two daughters, Cassey (Vann) Dotson and Amanda Turner; two sisters, Joy Murphy and Ann Mears; three grandchildren, Jon Austin Turner, Carson Turner and Tyler Dotson; mother-in-law, Ruth Owens; sister-in-law/adopted daughter, Vonda Way; sister-in-law-Jan (Randy) Wade.

Pallbearers will be Brandon Pitt, Jon Austin Turner, Braxton Wade, Ashley Wade, Chris White and Garod Hargett

Honorary pallbearers will be nephews.
