Michael Weigand, a farmer, of the Lutheran faith, was a German immigrant who came to America in 1708 with Joshua Kocherthal. Joshua Kocherthal was a Lutheran pastor who led a group of Germans to New York and helped them settle in upstate New York "on the Hudson," under the authority and with the assistance of Queen Anne of England. Michael Weigand brought with him his wife and three children.
Michael Weigand was the son of George Hermann Weigand (Wigand).
