The official records of St John Evangelical and Reformed Church, of Hebron, North Dakota, show that Friedrich Philipp Maas was born June 17, 1906, the son of Gottlieb and Carolina Maas and was baptized June 17, 1906, by Rev. A. Debna. Recorded in Book I, Page 63, Entry No. 488. Fred was not expected to live, having been born premature. He was born in a sod house on the homsteaded farm of his father. Hebron was the nearest town.

A private service was held Saturday, September 11, 1993, for Frederick P. Maas of Vancouver, Washington. Burial was in Evergreen Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Vancouver. Section: Garden of Love

Mr. Maas died of causes related to age. Wednesday, September 08, 1993, in a Vancouver nursing home. He was 87 years old.

Born Jun 17, 1906 in Farmers Valley Township, near Herbron, North Dakota. Mr. Maas was an aircraft assembler for several year's for the McDonnell Douglas Corp. in Long Beach, California. He had lived in Clark County since 1967.

Survivors include sons, Eugene and Bruce, both of Vancouver, Leonard of La Mirada, Calif. and Melvin of Brookings, Ore; daughters , Gladys Stephens of Moses Lake, Wash. and Betty Parks and Delliah Jessop, both of Vancouver. Fred leaves behind five brothers; two sisters; seven children; 22 Grandchildren; and 28 Great-grandchildren.
