Obituary:
Grantley
Mrs. R. Holland
There was deep sorrow in the community when the sad news was received of the death of Mrs. Richard Holland, Sr., Grantley, which occurred on Monday morning, December 13 at the home of her daughter Mrs. Henry Beckstead, Osnabruck Centre, after a few days illness from bright's disease.
Mrs. Holland will be much missed in the home as she was a kind and loving mother, ever considering the wants of those about her before she gave thought of herself. She was 75 years of age. Her illness was borne with Christian patience. The selected hymns which were sung at her funeral left many a word of comfort and cheer to the sorrowing ones.
She leaves to mourn her loss one brother John Holland of Newington, three sons and three daughters - Thos. Holland, Bush Glen; Richard Holland, Waddington, N.Y.; Archie Holland, Grantley; Mrs. Ira Gallinger and Mrs. George Summers of Finch, and Mrs. Henry Beckstead of Osnabruck Centre. The funeral took place on Wednesday afternoon from her daughter's home to Pleasant Valley Church, where Rev. Mr. Knox, Pastor of Newington officiated, after which the remains were interred in the family plot in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery. The pall-bearers were the three sons and the son-in-laws.
