Mary Elizabeth Eldredge Stanger, 95, formerly of Idaho Falls, passed away June 24, 2016, at her home in Blackfoot. She was under the care of Encompass Hospice.



Mary was born May 21, 1921, in Carey, Idaho, to Forest Howard Eldredge and Vivian Elizabeth Cross. She grew up and attended schools in Carey and graduated from Carey High School.



On June 10, 1939, she married Thomas Laughlin Stanger in Hailey, Idaho. To this union were born seven children, Patricia, Bonnie, Lloyd, Raymond, Calvin, Janice, and Karen. Mary and Tom made their home in Blackfoot, and later Idaho Falls, where Mary worked as a homemaker.



She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was a seamstress, and enjoyed hand-quilting, crochet, gardening, paint-by-numbers from Germany, pixel-hobby mosaics from Holland, and knitting 500 pair of baby booties for humanitarian kits. She also made numerous quilts for Primary Children’s Hospital.



Mary is survived by daughter, Patricia Ann Daniel of Des Moines, WA; son, Lloyd Thomas (Linda) Stanger of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Janice Lee (Richard) Stephens of Blackfoot, ID; son, Raymond Wayne (Roxann) Stanger of Rigby, ID; son, Calvin Dean (Darla) Stanger of Sunnyvale, CA; daughter, Karen L’nette (Ray) Hannah of Idaho Falls, ID; brother, Burl Thomas (Betty) Eldredge of Wendell, ID; brother, Jerold Allen (Ann) Eldredge of Jerome, ID; sister, Julia Margaret (Karl) Ward of Jerome, ID; 19 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.



She was preceded in death by her daughter, Bonnie Kay Killian, husband, Thomas L. Stanger, father, Forest Howard Eldredge, mother, Vivian Elizabeth Cross.




Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 29, 2016, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue, with Bishop Daniel Hale officiating. The family will visit with friends from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. prior to services at Wood Funeral Home. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery.
