Leone Ellen (Carlson) Aufforth was the third of ten children born to John Wilhelm Carlson and Ellen Christine(Larson) Carlson. Her father emigrated from Vollsjo, Skane Lan, Sweden. When she was 2 yrs old her parents moved from Clinton, Big Stone County, MN to Kandiyohi Township of Burke County, ND.
She graduated from Bowbells High School in 1936 and was employed by the Kenmare Hospital, Kenmare, ND. She also worked for a while at the University of Minnesota Hospital. She first married Donavan Holter and they had two children: Douglas Arthur Holter b. 1943 and Donovan John Holter b. Jun 1- 1944-Sept. 14, 2004. He served in the U.S. Army from 1962-1965. He lived in Bowbells, ND and was employed by Bohl Trucking. buried in Bowbells Cemetery.
Leone secondly married R.E.(Roelf "Granny" Aufforth on Oct. 8, 1948 in Plentywood, MT.
Roelf and Leone living and farmed near Bowbells, ND. They had 4 children: Roelf, Herman H. Susan and Tammy. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Bowbells, ND where her funeral took place on May 26, 1992. Both are buried in the Bowbells Cemetery, ND.
