Duane Ostermiller, 84, of Billings, passed away unexpectedly on July 8, 2016 on his job site doing want he enjoyed most, moving houses.

Duane was born Oct. 28, 1931 in Newdale ID and was the last surviving child of 10 born to John and Mary Ostermiller. He grew up in the Shepherd/Worden area. He worked at the Nebraska Feeding Co. and for Elliot Trump in the Winnett area, this is when he met and fell in love with Jo Ann. At the age of 21 he served his country in the U.S Army during the Korean conflict. After leaving the Army in 1954 he returned to Billings and married Jo Ann Dundom. He worked in Billings batching concrete for Lohof Brothers, and then became self-employed buying, selling and hauling hay. In 1964 Duane found his true calling and career in life, moving houses, buildings and other structures in Montana and Wyoming. His wife Jo Ann was involved in every aspect of this business as were his daughters during their growing up years. Duane was a professional in ensuring his customers were satisfied and the job was completed to his standards.

He is survived by his wife Jo Ann of 62 years and his daughters Leah and husband Richard Bomgardner, Sallie and husband Steve Hildenburg, Kathy and husband Fred Lanch, and Mary and husband Scott Steinfeldt. Duane also leaves behind 4 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grand daughter.

Duane will be missed greatly by his loving family and many friends.

Funeral service will be held 3 p.m., Fri., July 15 at Trinity Lutheran Church. Viewing will take place at the church at 2 p.m. prior to service.
