He worked for a Cody dairy and also sold cars until he moved to New York City, where he worked on tunnel construction for about a year. Then he moved back to Billings, where he lived for a year before moving to Bloomington, California, where he worked at the Riverside Cement Plant until moving back to Billings in 1943. He sold automobiles for a Chevrolet dealership in Laurel and Columbus. He then went into trucking and later on he did small contracting until his retirement in 1980. Then he became involved in a small farm west of Billings as a hobby.
He will deeply be missed by all who loved him. Surviving is his wife, Marie (Foos) Ostermiller, of 2421 Belknap, two daughters, Mrs. Jack (Darlene) Wunderlich of Littleton, Colorado, and Mrs. Allen (Donna) Coomber of Billings; three sons, Jim and his wife Glee Ostermiller, Dennis and his wife JoAnn Ostermiller and Harvey L. Ostermiller, all of Billings; one sister, Mrs. Richard (Mollie) Ernest of Riverside,
five brothers, Henry, Pete and Duane of Billings, Fred of Shephard and Joe of Roundup; 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son Darrel, his parents, and two sisters. Funeral services will be 1 PM Thursday, October 3, in Smith Downtown Chapel. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
