Marie Zielinski, 98, of Salem, died peacefully at home in her condo at Mary's Woods at Marylhurst in Lake Oswego, Oregon, on April 17, 2016.

Please join the family for a visitation at Keizer Funeral Chapel on Friday, April 22, between 5 and 7 p.m. with the Rosary following at 7 p.m. The funeral Mass will be held at St. Edward Catholic Church, Keizer, Oregon, on April 23, 2016, at 1:30 p.m. with Father Gary Zerr officiating. A celebration of life reception will follow at the church. There will be a private graveside service for immediate family members at Claggett Cemetery at 3:30 p.m.

Marie was born in her family home to Stephen and Katie Seifer on December 6, 1917. She attended St. Mary's Catholic Grade School and Mount Angel Academy. Marie is preceded in death by her parents Stephen and Katie, three brothers, Joseph, Leonard, and Al, and her sister Hilda Moll; her husband Fred; and her daughter, Virginia.

Marie and her husband Fred were married October 16, 1940, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mount Angel, Oregon. They resided at their farm on River Road in Salem, Oregon, in a home built by Fred and his father. Fred and Marie resided together on the farm they loved to for 49 years until Fred's death, and Marie remained on the farm until her move to Mary's Woods last year. Marie was an active partner with Fred in all aspects of managing their farm. She was a member of St. Vincent De Paul and then St. Edwards Catholic Church, Marion County Home Extension Service, Farm Bureau, and Royal Neighbors.

Marie had a great love of growing things and masterfully grew beautiful flowers and vegetables in her gardens. She creatively arranged bouquets and had them in the house throughout the year. In addition to being an excellent business woman, she loved her family and delighted in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Marie is lovingly remembered by her four daughters Lorna (Jim) Monaghan, Glenda (Paul, deceased) Anderson, Edna (Jim) Land, and Tamra (Ron) Sacchi; her seven grandchildren Corrie (Parke) Raffensperger, Kristin (Bill) McCall, Kevin (Francine) Monaghan, Kelly (Craig) Keudell, Stephen Sacchi, Joseph Sacchi, and Gemma Sacchi; and ten great-grandchildren.
