J. J. Shafer Laid To Rest.

The remains of J. J. Schafer, a former Odessa County rancher and grain buyer, were brought to Odessa for burial and the funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at the St. Mathews Church, the Rev Albert Reiman officiating. Mr. Schafer, with his wife and three children, left Odessa five months ago for American Falls, Idaho, where he accepted a position in a garage. He contracted influenza nine days before his death and on the third day considered himself about recovered, got up, and had a relapse, which terminated in pneumonia and which his powers of resistance was unable to overcome. After the funeral services, interment took place at the Odessa Cemetery. (Odessa Record: 2-20-1920)
