Obituary for Joyce Mccauley
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, October 17, 2008 in Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Joyce Lorraine Miller McCauley who was born August 22, 1929 in Eunice and died at 2:08 pm, Tuesday, October 14th at a local hospital.
Burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery next to her son Doug.
Mrs. McCauley, a resident of Lafayette, was the daughter of the late I.E. Miller and the former Helena Christ. She was a member of St. Jules Church in Lafayette and Sacred Heart in Butte La Rose.
Following graduation at Eunice High School, class of '46 , she attended SLI (presently ULL). She was employed as a dental assistant and later a physician's assistant/receptionist in Eunice.
On April 13, 1952, she married Harry, a native of Evangeline Parish and resident of New Orleans where they made their home for two years. Returning to Eunice for two more years, they moved to Lafayette in 1956 with their two infant twin sons.
For more than 25 years, Butte La Rose has been their home where they enjoyed entertaining friends and relatives.
She is survived by her husband, Harry; sons, David, Daniel, Brad and his wife Debra; brothers, Ira Miller and wife Suzie, Allen Gus Miller and wife Virginia; and one sister-in-law Winnie (Ardoin) Miller; also, numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son Douglas; her parents; brothers, Ivan Miller and his first wife Mamie and second wife Gussie; Henry Miller; sisters, Nettie Miller, Ina Miller Wafer and husband Frank (Leonard Franklin Wafer), Lillian Miller Meaux and husband Lawrence Edgar Meaux, Sr. 'Peg', Irene Miller Peterson and husband Cecil and Helen Miller deRosier and husband Paul, sister-in-law, Antoinette Leonards Miller (1st wife of Ira )
