Robert Theiler was born May 1870 in Washington Township, Green County, WI to Christian and Marianne (Wittwer) Theiler. His parents had emigrated from Faulensee, near Lake Thun, Canton Bern, Switzerland in 1867 with his four older siblings. Robert was their fifth and last child. Robert married Anna Wild Sept 14, 1894 in Monticello. They had three children: Herman F. (1895-1944), Edith M. (1897-1953), and Robert William Jr. (1909-1990)

Robert Theiler, 62, died Thursday night, a victim, of the heat. Mr. Theiler was born
in Washington township in 1870 For many years he had conducted farms in Washington township and near Albany, and had resided in Monroe for 24 years, having conducted a real estate and insurance business here, a furniture store, and recently a lunch room. He was a member of the I. O. O. F., and G. U. G. G. lodges. Surviving are the widow and three children, Herman F., Monroe; Mrs. J. D. Hahlen, Brodhead, and Robert W., Fort Dodge, la. Funeral services were conducted Sunday at the Knight and Voelkli funeral home and from St. John's Evangelical church, the Rev. P. A. Schuh, Monroe, and A. Muehlmeier, Monticello, officiating. Burial was in Greenwood cemetery.

Victim of Heat Wave; Last Rites to be Held on Sunday
A victim of the heat wave, Robert Theiler, aged 62, lifelong resident of Green county, died at 7:40 last evening in his home, 1107 ½ Sixteenth avenue.
He had not been well for several days and suffering from the heat induced complications. He was seriously stricken Wednesday.
Mr. Theiler was a resident of Monroe 24 years, with the exception of four years spent on an Albany township farm. He was born in Washington township, May 30, 1870, the son of Christian and Marianna Wittwer Theiler.
Farmed in Town of Washington
For fourteen years he farmed on the place where he was born in Washington township. He married Anna Wild, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hilarius Wild in Monticello, Sept 13, 1894.
In 1908 he bought the furniture business of M. Ladon here and operated this store for six years. Then he entered the real estate and insurance business which he followed for 15 years. Recently he had been operating a lunch room at 1111 Sixteenth avenue. He served as town clerk of Washington township for nine years. He was affiliate with St. Johns Evangelical church, I. O. O. F. lodge No 124 and G. U. G. Germania lodge.
Funeral on Sunday
Surviving are the widow, three children, Herman F. Theiler, Monroe, Mrs. J. D. Hahlen, Brodhead and Robert W. Theiler, Jr. Ft Dodge, Ia, and two grandchildren. He was the brother of the late J. H. Theiler, Monroe, and the last of seven in his family.
Funeral services will be held at 2 Sunday afternoon in the Knight and Voelkli funeral home and at 2:30 in St John's Evangelical church. Rev. P. A. Schuh, of St Johns and Rev. A. Muehlmeier, Monticello, will officiate, with interment in Greenwood cemetery.
