Our beloved Dad, Grandpa and Great Grandpa joined his loving wife Dianne in Heaven on August 27, 2016. Elroy Michael Gruber was born September 6, 1930 at home in Hilbert, Wisconsin to John and Cecelia Gruber.

The family moved to Visalia when Elroy was 6 weeks old. During several moves to start new dairies and farms he was raised working the family business and attending George McCann School in Visalia. After his freshman year at Visalia Union High School the family moved to Oregon where Elroy met Dianne.

He married Dianne K. Ward on May 17, 1948 in Bandon, Oregon. After living in Oregon and Santa Monica for a short time they moved the family and settled in Visalia where they raised 4 loving children. Elroy developed a passion for farming at an early age which he passed to his children as they continue his legacy farming on his property. His love for family and farming was felt by all.

Elroy was a member of the Visalia Elks/Vagabonds and enjoyed going on trips with Dianne in their motorhome. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, The Elbow Creek Grange Hall, Moose Lodge and PPAV Hall.

His wife Dianne of almost 60 years preceded him in death, as well as his brothers Wilmer, Leslie and Ronald Gruber, and his sisters Martha Grimes, Germaine Hill and Mildred Roehrig. He is survived by his children Nadine Gilbert (Gene), Theresa Giannandrea (Joe), Thomas Gruber (Dee Dee) and Timothy Gruber (Pam), 9 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, brother Rueben Gruber and sister Vandalia Maxwell.
Thank you to the many family and friends that offered support during Elroy’s time of need, especially to his caregivers Linda Gutierrez and his granddaughter Lindsay.

A viewing will be held on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 from 4-7 p.m. at Salser and Dillard Funeral Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with burial to follow at Visalia District Cemetery.
