CHESHIRE - Karl W. Garms, 96, passed away Sunday, September 4, 2016 at home in Cheshire. He was the husband of the late Elizabeth “Betty” (Bloom) Garms.

Mr. Garms was born February 25, 1920 in Oakville, the son of the late William and Henny (Topken) Garms. He was a WWII Veteran serving his country in the U.S. Navy during Pearl Harbor. He was a longtime Waterbury resident moving from Bunker Hill to Cheshire over ten years ago.

Mr. Garms is survived by his niece, Heidi Klies and her husband Robert "Pete" Klies of Goose Creek, SC; his nephews, Jeffrey Garms of Hillsdale, NY and Douglas Garms of Goose Creek, SC . Besides his parents Mr. Garms is predeceased by his brother Arnold.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday September 10, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Evergreen Cemetery, 183 North Street, Watertown. Memorial contributions may be made to a veteran’s organization of the donor’s choice
