WHITEWRIGHT, TEXAS -- Services for Audrey Corner, 96, will be 11 a.m. Monday at Church of Christ. Officiating the service will be Frazier Conley. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery, Ardmore. Arrangements are under the direction of Earnheart Funeral Home.

Born Aug. 17, 1910, at Altus to Richard Ross and Mary Ella Hillis Gandy, she died Dec. 8, 2006, at a Leonard, Texas nursing home.

She married Clyde Corner Aug. 22, 1937, at Wilson. Clyde was a Church of Christ preacher, serving churches primarily in Oklahoma. Clyde had served as a Church of Christ preacher for more than 50 years. Her husband, Clyde Corner died March 11, 1975. They were married 37 years.

As a young child, Audrey and her family moved to House, N.M. for three years. She began school there. They moved to Wilson in 1918 and she attended second grade through high school. She graduated from Wilson High School in 1928. She then attended Abilene Christian College at Abilene, Texas for one year, 1928-29, and attended Southeastern State Teacher's College, Durant, for one year, 1929-30. She began teaching at Wilson in 1930. She graduated from Southeastern State Teacher's College in 1934, completing her college education during night school and summer school.

Audrey taught elementary school for eight years at Wilson (seven before her marriage and one year after marriage). They moved to Marietta in 1940, Oklahoma City in 1941, El Reno in 1944, Hot Springs, Ark. in 1946, Holdenville in 1954, Sulphur in 1955, Hobart in 1959, Grandfield in 1961, and Chandler in 1965. She taught school at Hot Springs, Sulphur, Hobart, Grandfield and Chandler. She retired from teaching in 1976, completing 27 years of teaching.

After her retirement she moved to Wichita, Kan. in 1990 and Sherman, Texas in 1995, where she resided at the Renaissance. She moved to Leonard Nursing Home in 2000.

She was a member of Whitewright Church of Christ and a member of the Church of Christ for more than 80 years.

She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Larry Shaw, Scottsdale, Ariz., and Karen and Frazier Conley, Whitewright; six grandchildren, Jeff Shaw and his wife, Susan, Atlanta, Leslie Carter and her husband, Charles, Phoenix, Natalie Groeger and her husband, Ben, Phoenix, Jack Conley and his wife, Jenny, Wylie, Texas, Paige Pecore and her husband, Doug, Houston, Angela Conley, Dallas; and seven great-grandchildren, Brittany Taraba, Houston, Wilkin Pecore, Houston, Sydney and Madeline Shaw, Atlanta, Mason and Alexa Groeger, Phoenix, James Carter, Phoenix,; and two nieces, Carolyn Estes, Henryetta and Carole Pinches, Ardmore.

She was preceded in death by her mother in 1971, her father in 1973, and her two brothers, William Herbert Gandy in 1994 and Carol Lewis Gandy in 1997.
