Martin Schwindt was the son of Martin Schwindt and Katherine Elizabeth Lehl Schwindt. Both parents died in Norka Russia. They had planned to come with the rest of the family but Martin (Sr.) was killed while serving in the Russian Army.

Martin, his wife, Anna Marie Albert, and son John arrived in this country on May 29, 1903. Church records show that they first settled in Kansas.

Martin worked on the railroad and went to night school to get his citizenship. They later moved to Colorado and worked in the beet fields. They started farming in 1914. They had twelve children. Following his retirement from farming they moved to Denver, Colorado. Martin and Anna celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 1961.

Martin Schwindt and Anna Marie Albert were married in Norka, Russia on November 20, 1901 and came to the USA May 29, 1903. Both are buried in Crown Hill Cemetery in Denver, Colorado.
