NIEHOFF, Samuel Benjamin Age 92, of Oxford, passed away at his residence early Saturday morning, September 9, 2006. He was born May 24, 1914, the son of Benjamin and Christina Niehoff. Sam lived his entire life in Butler County and attended McGuffey High School. He was a farmer, a truck driver, a blacksmith and worked for 30 years for Talawanda School District as a bus driver and was the first bus mechanic. He even built a garage at his home to work on the buses. He loved to listen to music and was a square dance caller for several area clubs. He taught himself how to play the harmonica and could play over 100 songs. Sam also built his own sawmill for sawing lumber, which he used to build many pieces of furniture and shelves. He is survived by his wife Ardella; daughter Linda Mapel; sons Larry, Ben, Calvin and their wives Mary, Pam, and Carolyn; grandchildren Sharon O'Toole, Daryl Mapel, Diana Zehler, Susan Jackson, David Niehoff, Dan Niehoff, Tracy, James and Randy Niehoff, Angie Baughman and Travis Niehoff; 14 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; many nieces and nephews and many friends. He is also survived by one brother Dan Niehoff, age 104 of Florida and a sister Lenora Bobbitt, age 101 of Oxford. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Meryl Jacobs-Niehoff; sisters, Mary, Carrie, Josephine, and Elizabeth and a brother, Frank. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening, September 12, 2006 at the Smith & Ogle Funeral Home, 5086 College Corner Pike, Oxford. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday morning September 13, at the funeral home. Burial will be in the College Corner Cemetery. Memorial donations have been asked to be sent to Hospice of Cincinnati Hamilton, 896 NW Washington Blvd., Hamilton, OH 45013.
