Selma Richter Mickan, 92, of Georgetown died Friday, December 23, 2006.
She was born February 4, 1914, in Weir, Texas, to Christian Richter and Maria Doehre.
Selma married Walter E. Mickan on July 19, 1932, at Zion Lutheran Church in Walburg. He preceded her in death on April 1, 2005.
She is survived by her children, Josephine Mickan Cockrum and husband Milton, Harold M. Mickan, Curtis W. Mickan and wife Marilyn, and Geraine Mickan Gottschalk and Husband Robert; grandchildren, David Cockrum and wife Paula of Jarrell, Bradley Cockrum and wife Marian of Georgetown, Patty Groves and husband Doug of Georgetown, Stephanie McNickle and husband David of Georgetown, Felicia Jenkins and husband Mark of Houston, Dawn Jung and husband Jarred of New Braunfels, Jennifer Mickan of New York City, Nathan Burgess of Chewowa, Mexico, Melinda Swafford Jr. and husband Danny of Georgetown, Tammy Mitchell and husband Greg of Corpus Christi and Stacy Gottschalk of Austin. She also leaves behind her sisters-in-law, Regina Matthias and Elvie Mickan. She also has 24 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Deborah Mickan Burgess.
Selma was a homemaker and a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church, and she was active in the Lutheran Women's Missionary League. She also served as secretary/treasurer and on several other committees at Zion.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, and all family members and many friends will miss her warm, friendly smile and loving hugs.
Funeral services were Tuesday, December 26, at Zion Lutheran Church with Pastor John Davenport officiating. Burial followed at Zion Lutheran Cemetery.
