Mrs. Frank Jiras

Mrs. Frank Jiras was born Anna Novotny, daughter of Wesley and Frances Novotny, in Johnson county, April 23, 1871, and passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs.
Clyde Simpkins, Thursday morning at 7 o'clock, after an illness of several months. She has been bedfast for the past seven weeks. She spent her entire life in Johnson
county.

On July 18, 1888, she was married to Frank Jiras and went to housekeeping on a farm in Jefferson township. Five years later, they moved to the farm north of Oxford where they have resided the past 44 years.

Surviving members of the family are her husband, six daughters and four sons. Mrs, M. G. Dermody, St. Louis, Mo.; Mrs. Elmer Stanek, Cedar Rapids; Mrs. Lou Shalla, Shueyville; Mrs. Adolph Kadera, North Liberty; Mrs. Clyde Simpkins,and Mrs. Murray Yenter of Oxford. Dr. Charles Jiras of West Branch; Frank Jiras, Jr., of Tiffin; Tony Jiras of Riverside and Wesley Jiras of Oxford; two sisters, Mrs. Agnes Ziskovsky and Mrs. Mary Kopetsky of Shueyville; three brothers, Frank Novotny of Solon; Antone Novotny of Swisher and Fred Novotny and nineteen grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 9 o'clock Saturday morning at St. Mary's church, Rev. P. J. Ryan in charge. Burial will be made in Mt, Calvary cemetery.
