Statesman, 26th Prime Minister of Yugoslavia. He served from 15 May 1986 to 16 March 1989. He was also 6th Prime Minister of Bosnia and Herzegovina. He served from 1967–1969. Prior to becoming prime minister of Yugoslavia he served as 3rd President of the Presidency of SR Bosnia and Herzegovina from 26 April 1982 – 26 April 1983. This helped propel him in Yugoslavia politics. Shortly, he was then nominated by the Yugoslav presidency as successor to Prime Minister Milka Planinc in January 1986. He is best remembered for his failed economic policies and union strikes. He devalued the dinar by 25% on 17 November 1987. No confidence votes and more strikes erupted nationwide. He resigned as prime minister on 30 December 1988 and returned to Sarajevo. His government then became the first and only to resign in the history of communist Yugoslavia. He left Yugoslavia with 21 billion USD of debt to Western countries.
