Jacob Zinkhann was a son of Johann & Anna Maria Zinkhann. He was born in Cranberry Twp; Butler County, Penn. in 1839.

1850 US census of Cranberry Twp; 12 years old.
1860 US census of Jackson Twp; 21 years old.

In 1862, Jacob immigrated to Canada and on June 28, 1863 he married Annie Carolina Makey in Rainham Twp; Haldimand County. Marriage Microfilm #1030057.

They raised 9 children in Rainham Twp; and Berlin, Ontario.

A fatal accident befell 63-year-old Jakob Zinkhann on Friday afternoon in St. Agatha. He resides at the corner of Waterloo and Wellington Streets in Berlin. He was involved with the improvement of the well at Mr. Friedrich Bächler's (Baechler's) place in St. Agatha, and fell down a distance of about twenty feet, while climbing down. He was brought up to the surface and since his injuries appeared extremely serious, his relatives in Berlin were informed of the accident. His sons, Jakob and Edward, hurried to their injured father with a doctor and two others; however, the former succumbed to his injuries at 7:30 p.m. The body was transported to Berlin at night and the burial took place on Monday afternoon. The members of the K.O.T.M. and the Federal-Union attended the latter.
