Ruth was born December 13, 1922, to Charles and Mary (Prusynski) Dempze in Wisconsin Rapids. She was raised on the Gaynor Cranberry Marsh, attended the Cranberry Creek Grade School, and graduated from Wood County Normal and Agricultural School in 1940. That same year, on June 26, she married Alfred Arendt in Nekoosa. There were married 47 years before Alfred died in January 1988.

Ruth was a charter member of the 51 Homemakers, Sacred Heart Parish Council of Catholic Women, and several neighborhood card groups. Mother enjoyed playing cards with everyone especially her grandchildren, and she played to win. Her green thumb was evident by her many house plants and for a number of years, she also enjoyed tending to her bantam chickens. During the winter season Ruth spent many warm and happy hours sitting in her rocking chair on the porch, stoking the wood stove with the wood provided by her son Alan.

Ruth is survived by her children, Linda (Hugh) O'Donnell, Alan Arendt, Sandra (Richard) Oleson, Ronald (Debbra) Arendt, Duane (Ann) Arendt, Christine (Allen) Goodness all of Nekoosa, and son-in law, Michael Fabini of North Branch, MN; 16 grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her daughter Alesa Fabini, her parents, her brother Gordon Dempze, and her sisters, Lois Heller and Luella Dempze.

The Arendt family would like to thank the caregivers that gave such good care to Ruth over the years, especially Mary, Linda and Miranda.

When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure. We will miss you mom.
