Well liked and hard working young man. Died from typhoid fever.

Funeral held at St. John's Catholic church in Quincy, Illinois, led by Reverend Father Still.

The decedent received a requiem high mass.

The Typographical Union attended in a large group. Joe Menke had begun work at the Quincy Daily Journal newspaper as a child of 11 or 12. He began as a paper carrier, then worked in the composing room and apprenticed as a printer.

Interment at St. Boniface cemetery.
