Otto William Markwardt, 92, of Waco, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 14, 2007, at a local hospital. Services will be 11 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 18, at Beacon Hill Baptist Church, 1912 Monte Vista, Waco, with Brother Gordon officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation with family and friends will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 17, at Connally/Compton Directors Funeral Home.

Otto was born in Lyons, Texas, to the late Adolph and Olga Maass Markwardt.

Preceding Otto in death was his first wife, Ella Annie (Lander) Markwardt in 1988; great-grandson, Kevin Ray Gaidusek in 2003; son-in-law, Wendell Morris in 2005; great-granddaughter, Susan Toner in 2006; two sisters; and four brothers.

Survivors include his wife of 12 years, Veda Faye; sons, Odis Wayne Markwardt and wife, Yong Hi, of Waco, Eddie Ray Markwardt and wife, Jewel, of Waco, and William Henry Markwardt and wife, Liz, of Bryan; daughters, Ella Mae Helm and husband, William "Sonny", of Waco, Betty Jean Morris, of Speegleville, Elsie Ann Eaton and husband, Olis, of Waco, Linda Lou McDannel and husband, Albert, of Bruceville, and Sherry Lynn Orth and husband, Ron, of Bryan; 26 grandchildren; 59 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Gertrude Conrad.
