Anna was the daughter of Leonard Bohr and Christina Schmitt. She along with her sister Barbara (Mathias Müller) emigrated from Germany and arrived at the Port of New York on 29 November 1856 aboard the ship Genesee. Their brother Joseph Bohr (Buhr) had arrived the previous year, 24 Decemebr 1855 aboard the ship New York. They were all three among the early settlers of Johnsburg, McHenry County, Illinois.
