Roselyn Shanks McKay, age 94, was born June 8, 1922 in Greenville, Texas to Ella and Phines Shanks. She married Boyd McKay on February 20, 1939. She was saved and baptized in 1939 at Aberfoyle Baptist Church in Hunt County Texas. Roselyn and Boyd raised their family in Dallas, where they lived many years until retiring to a country home near Wolfe City. They later moved to Rowlett, where Boyd passed away in 1994, after 55 years of marriage. At the time of her death on March 23, 2017, she resided in Canton, Texas.

She was a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. Well known for her excellent cooking, her generosity, and her sweet Christian spirit, she will be deeply missed by all of her family and many dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, three sisters, and her beloved husband.

She is survived by her daughters: Barbara Frerich and husband Allan of Ben Wheeler, Rhoda Sawan of Sachse, six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, one sister and numerous other family members and friends.

Visitation will be at 10:00 A.M., 1 hour before the service at 11:00 A.M. Monday, March 27, 2017 at R. W. Owens & Son Funeral Home, 200 S Santa Fe, Wolfe City, Texas. Interment will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Wolfe City, Texas.
