Sarah Catherine grew up on her father's large farm in Batavia, Scott Twp, Sheboygan County, Wisconsin. Soon after her marriage, Sarah Catherine and her husband moved to Waterloo IA; returned to Wisconsin and lived in Campbellsport briefly; and in 1879 moved to 1229 N. 4th St., Sheboygan WI, where they lived the remainder of their lives.
My mother loved visiting her grandparents in Sheboygan. They lived only one block from Lake Michigan. Mom said that her grandmother would wear as many as seven aprons and would layer them on as her day progressed. A breakfast apron, another to make beds, then another when she dusted, another for afternoon, another for dinner.
