Shirley Ann Farmer, 80 of Greeley, passed away at Life Care Center of Greeley on March 28, 2017. Shirley was born May 18, 1936 in Fort Collins, CO, to Henry and Lydia (Jordan) Schwartz, Jr.

Shirley grew up in Wellington and Fort Collins where most of her family resided. She completed the 8th grade before going to work on her family farm digging beats. She later worked as a baker in the Greeley Albertson store and was head baker at Shop N Save but her primary focus was as a mom and homemaker. She married Larry Farmer on June 1, 1996 in Fort Collins. Shirley and Larry enjoyed fishing and traveled together in their RV mostly in Arizona. Larry died July 5, 2009.

Shirley was active in the local VFW Pioneer Post #2121, Fraternal Order of La Salle Eagles, and the American Legion in Windsor. She was a lifelong member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the VFW of the U.S. in Evans, CO. She enjoyed coffee with her friends in Windsor, taking the senior center bus and gambling in Blackhawk.

She is survived by her sons Jerry (Sharon) Kahl and Darrell Kahl; brothers Howard (Rosetta) Schwartz, Jimmy (Linda) Schwartz, and Harry (Betty) Schwartz; sister Jeannie Kimberling; grandchildren Daina, Sarah, Jennifer, Heather and Kristy; as well as 9 great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Larry, her parents; brothers Clinton Schwartz and Robert Schwartz. She was previously married to Willie Edwin Kahl on June 11, 1955 at St. Paul's Church in Greeley. He died August 8, 1992.

A visitation will be held from 4-8:00 P.M. Friday, March 31, 2017 at the Allnutt Macy Chapel. Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, April 1, 2017 at the Allnutt Macy Chapel. Interment at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
