"Sept. 16, 1925 — April 3, 2017

Mary died peacefully in her sleep at Gold Country Skilled Nursing after struggling for years with dementia. Her husband of 70 years, Ed Ramme, was by her side.

Mary was born in Streator, Ill., where she grew up, married and started her family. Many of her happiest stories where from her time working as a copy girl for the Chicago Tribune from 1945 to 1946 while waiting for her Marine to return from World War II. She and Ed married Aug. 17, 1946. While raising her children and caring for her family, she worked as a teacher’s aide. Her retirement years were happily spent traveling, playing tennis with the Hangtown Women’s Tennis club and playing Bridge. Another joy was attending the annual United States Marine Corps 2nd Amphibious Battalion Second Division reunions.

Mary was preceded in death by her three sons, John, Bill and Peter Ramme, and is survived by her husband, Ed Ramme of Placerville, Calif.; daughter, Julie Hendricks and son-in-law, Monte Hendricks of Pollock Pines, Calif.; grandchildren, Heather Ramme of Sebastopol, Calif., and Travis Ramme of Eugene, Ore.; daughter-in-law, Colleen Ramme of Eugene; and two great-grandchildren, Will and Evie Ramme of Eugene.

Mary will be interred in the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon, Calif. The family wishes to thank the staff of Gold Country Skilled Nursing and Snowline Hospice for their loving care."
